LYNCHBURG, Va. – James Madison and No. 7 Liberty were tied 1-1 at halftime, however, the Lady Flames took advantage of their 15 penalty corners to come away with a 3-2 victory on Sunday afternoon at the Liberty Field Hockey Complex.

JMU falls to 3-10, while LU improves to 14-1 and will host UConn on Oct. 21.

For Liberty, Jodie Connolly netted a pair of goals, both in the second half. Bethany Dykema and Lexi Hosler added two assists each in the win.

How It Happened
- Heinbaugh made a pair of saves in the opening frame to keep the score 0-0 after one.
- The Lady Flames broke through with a goal on their eighth penalty corner of the game, scoring with under two minutes left in the half.
- JMU responded as Carawan connected with classmate Satchell on a fast break to make it 1-1 heading into the intermission.
- Liberty regained the lead early in the third off a penalty corner situation with the goal from Connolly. The Lady Flames' 2-1 edge would hold through the end of the period.
- Roeper found the back of the net at the 9:23 mark of the fourth, collecting a rebound off a shot from freshman Azul Covarrubias. However, Connolly answered less than a minute later for LU after earning another corner.
- The Flames maintained their 3-2 advantage the rest of the way for the win.
