HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison knocked down 12-of-27 (.444) shots from three to roll past Longwood, 84-50, at the Atlantic Union Bank Center on Wednesday night.
JMU (3-1) also dominated on the glass, outrebounding the Lancers (1-3), 58-29. The Dukes pulled down 23 offensive boards to register 25 second chance points.
Graduate student
Carole Miller led all players with a season-high 14 points, making 3-of-4 (.750) from behind the arc. Junior
Mikaya Tynes tied her career-high of 11 points, while redshirt junior
Kseniia Kozlova added 10.
Sophomore
Chloe Sterling recorded a personal-best six assists to go along with a career-tying nine rebounds. Redshirt sophomore
Peyton McDaniel pulled down 10 boards, her second consecutive game rebounding in double figures. Redshirt sophomores

Amira Williams each added four assists in the win.
For Longwood, Anne-Hamilton LeRoy produced 11 points and four rebounds. Otaifo Esenabhalu paced all players with 15 boards.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
- Longwood jumped out with a 10-4 lead at the 6:26 mark, its biggest lead of the night.
- JMU responded by closing the opening frame on a 25-3 run, highlighted by three-pointers from Miller and redshirt juniors Steph Ouderkirk and Jamia Hazell.
- The Dukes held the Lancers without a made field goal for the final 5:30 of the quarter for a 25-13 lead.
Second Quarter
- Momentum carried in the second quarter as James Madison opened with a 7-2 run to make it 32-15 at the 8:34 mark.
- Longwood cut the deficit to 11 (34-23), however, the Dukes fought back and finished the second quarter with an 11-1 spurt as the scoreboard read 49-28 at halftime.
- McDaniel knocked down a pair of three-pointers, while junior Ashanti Barnes, Kozlova and Tynes each chipped in with four points.
Third Quarter
- Seven Dukes got on the scoresheet as the JMU, led by Miller with six in the quarter.
- James Madison shot 4-for-9 (.444) from long range.
- The balanced scoring and gritty defense ballooned JMU's advantage to 72-40 with one quarter remaining.
Fourth Quarter
- The Dukes' lead grew to 40 (80-40) with 7:54 left in regulation, their biggest advantage of the game.
- Tynes guided JMU home with seven points, highlighted by her first career three-pointer.
- The Lancers were held to just 10 points as the Dukes came away with an 84-50 victory.
GAME NOTES
- James Madison has won 12 consecutive contests against Longwood dating back to 1979.
- The Dukes' dozen triples were the most for the team since hitting 12-of-16 (.750) against Texas State in the Sun Belt Championship game on March 6. Coming into the game, Head Coach Sean O'Regan's squad had made just nine three-pointers.
- JMU held the advantage in points in the paint (36-24), fast break points (17-7) and bench points (47-19).
- In the last six meetings, the Dukes have outrebounded the Lancers by 166 with an average margin of +27.6.
- Miller's 14 points were the most since scoring 14 at UCLA on Nov. 21, 2021.
- With four assists and zero turnovers, Mullins has recorded an assist-to-turnover ratio of 16.0. Additionally, JMU's 23 assists marked a season high.
- Sterling was the most efficient player on the court with +35 plus/minus.
