Elon, N.C. – James Madison softball competed in its final two games at the Elon Softball Phoenix Invitational Sunday afternoon. The team won their first game against Michigan State 5-0, before falling to Elon 8-2.

The Dukes now move to 2-2 on the season, while Michigan State falls to 5-4 and Elon advances to 4-5.

Alissa Humphrey threw yet another impressive seven-inning game, recording nine strikeouts. Humphrey totaled zero runs, one walk, and allowed three hits. She also pitched a no-hitter through five innings.

Freshman
Bella Henzler led the team with two hits to come up big against the Spartans. She singled twice, scored one run, and batted in one run for the Dukes.

Kylee Gleason, and graduate students
Hallie Hall and
Avery Pinder also recorded a hit during today's competition.

Rebecca Muh was on the mound until the third inning when sophomore
Lexi Rogers came in for relief. JMU gave up six runs in the fourth and one in the fifth while adding two fielding errors.

Muh made another appearance in the fifth in hopes of a late comeback. Muh finished her day with two strikeouts, one walk, and one run.
