ATLANTA Ga.- James Madison softball closed out its series against Georgia State on Friday afternoon in a 3-1 loss.

JMU dropped to 21-12 (6-6) in SBC play, while Georgia State improved to 15-25 (4-8).

Kylah Berry started in the circle and pitched four innings of work, giving up three runs  while striking out two. Sophomore
Lexi Rogers made her appearance in relief and pitched the final two innings, yielding just two hits with a strikeout.

Reed Butler hit a solo homer in the fifth to provide the JMU scoring, while sophmore
Kylee Gleason led the Dukes with two hits.

How It Happened
- Georgia State scored its first two runs from a triple and a single in the bottom of the first inning.
- In the bottom of the fourth inning, GSU plated its third run on a fielder's choice.
- Butler blasted her home run in the top of the fifth inning to cut the Panthers lead down to two runs.
