HARRISONBURG, Va. - Former Illinois prep standout
Dominic Scaletta has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the James Madison men's golf team for the 2023-24 season, as announced by Head Coach
Carter Cheves on Wednesday afternoon.
Scaletta put together a stellar junior career, finishing second at the Illinois State Junior Amateur in 2021. That same season, he racked up five top 10s at American Junior Golf Association events, as well as a pair of top-three finishes.
"We're excited about the talent, work ethic and drive that Dominic will bring to our team next season," Cheves said. "He's dedicated to his craft and will be a fantastic addition to our roster."
While competing with Barrington High School, he captured a pair of Mid-Suburban League and Region 3A titles as both a sophomore and junior, and became the youngest player to ever make the cut at the Illinois State Amateur when he was just a sophomore.
The Dukes wrapped up their 2022-23 season last week at their first-ever Sun Belt Championship, but will return all but one member of their lineup for the 2023-24 campaign, including Third Team All-Sun Belt Conference selection
Daniel Cheng.
