HARRISONBURG, Va. – Six Dukes scored as James Madison field hockey shutout Bellarmine, 6-0, on Friday night at the JMU Field Hockey Complex in Mid-American Conference play.

JMU (10-3, 5-0 MAC) out-shot the Knights (3-9, 1-5 MAC) 24-3 and limited Bellarmine to one penalty corner to remain unbeaten in league action and solidify a spot in the MAC Tournament.

Katie Fricke stepped in for the second half and registered a save to secure the shutout.

For Bellarmine, Kaily Workman stopped 11 shots and allowed five goals, logging 47:48 in the loss. Megan Clauser came in early in the fourth and conceded one goal.

How It Happened
- Julian opened up the scoring on a fierce JMU attack with an assist from Strittmatter with 1:55 remaining in the first frame.
- Drexler-Amey found the back of the net during a scramble in front to put the Dukes ahead 2-0 early in the second.
- Halfway through the third, Tambroni connected with Turner across the goal to create a 3-0 cushion at halftime.
- On a penalty corner, Roeper took a shot from the top of the circle that was deflected in by Brown to make it 4-0 after three.
- Strittmatter and Tambroni added insurance in the final frame, while Fricke produced a clean sheet for the 6-0 victory.

- James Madison leads 2-0 in the all-time series, dating back to 2022.
- The win marks the Dukes' second consecutive shutout in conference play. Previously, JMU held Kent State scoreless for a 3-0 triumph at home on Oct. 11.
- The 6-0 victory is the biggest shutout in league play this season.
- The Dukes have four shutouts in the 2024 campaign: William & Mary (4-0, Sept. 15), Queens (N.C.) (7-0, Sept. 29), Kent State (3-0, Oct. 11) and Bellarmine (6-0, Oct. 18).
- JMU's registered a season-best five assists, the most helpers since recording seven versus Queens (N.C.) in a 14-0 win on Nov. 4, 2023.
