DANBURY, Conn. – James Madison sophomore
Luca Nikolai earned a spot on the second team of the 2024 Division I Men's Soccer All-ECAC Teams, the Eastern College Athletic Conference announced Monday afternoon.

Nikolai earned his second nod in a row to the All-ECAC teams after earning a second team laurel last season. He is one of six players to repeat from last season's teams and the first Duke to earn multiple All-ECAC honors.

The accolade is the newest this postseason for Nikolai, as he has been named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year and tabbed to the first team of the All-Southeast Region teams and All-Sun Belt teams. TopDrawerSoccer ranked him 20
th in their midseason top 100 list and he was invited over the weekend to the 2024 Major League Soccer College Showcase ahead of the SuperDraft on Friday, Dec. 20.

Starting all 19 matches this season for JMU, the Kaarst, Germany native helped anchor one of the best defenses in the country. The Dukes currently rank 12
th nationally in save percentage (0.800), 17
th in team goals against average (0.842) and 24
th in shutout percentage (0.421). In the Sun Belt, the Dukes rank first, second and third in the respected categories. JMU allowed 16 goals this season, the least in the Sun Belt currently, with two coming from own goals. Offensively, Nikolai contributed four goals and two assists for 10 points. He led all defenders in the league in goals and was one of two to post 10 points.
