HARRISONBURG, Va. – JMU lacrosse attacker
Hannah Lewis has been selected to the final roster of the 2024 U20 Puerto Rico National Team, as announced by Puerto Rico Lacrosse on Wednesday.
Â
She will be competing alongside the rest of the team in the 2024 Women's U20 Championship in Hong Kong, China from August 15 to August 25. 20 teams from around the world are set to compete in the championship.
Â
Lewis' paternal grandmother, her Abuela, is from Puerto Rico and still has family members living on the island. They hail from Isabella, Puerto Rico and Ponce, Puerto Rico.
Â
"Having the opportunity to play the sport I love for something bigger than myself, representing my Abuela and the rest of my Puerto Rican family members' island is the greatest honor," Lewis said. "I'm incredibly blessed and grateful to have been named to the U20 Puerto Rico National Team and cannot wait to compete for the island with a team of other amazing Puerto Rican girls."
Â
The freshman is entering her first season with the Dukes. She spent her high school years at Central Regional in Bayville, N.J. and played on the Jersey Shore Select Club Team. She is a three-time All-Division, All-County and All-Conference athlete, and was honored with Division Player of the Year in 2023.
Â
Lewis led the division in goals (110) her senior year, and ranked in the top five in the state in goals and top 10 in draw controls in 2021 and 2022.
