Maria Atwood captured an individual title and led James Madison women's golf to a team championship at the River Landing Classic on Tuesday at the River Landing Golf Course and its par-72, 6,118-yard layout.

JMU won its first outright title since the Dukes took the ECU Ironwood Invitational on April 4, 2023. In the field of 11 teams, JMU finished with an 881, five strokes ahead of Elon. Atwood's score of 215 (-1) across three rounds in Wallace, N.C., bested the field of 74 golfers and is the first individual title for JMU since
Amelia Williams also won the Ironwood Invitational last April.

Atwood and Williams combined to collect 20 of the team's 36 birdies. Atwood fired off the tournament's best round, three-under 69, on the first day of action. Williams was close behind Atwood, shooting 218 (+2) and finishing tied for third place.

JMU led right from the first round, shooting 293-289-299 to maintain the top spot throughout the tournament.

Kendall Turner posted a solid Top-10 finish for JMU, tying for eighth place with a commendable three-round score of 221 (+5). The redshirt senior progressively improved her score in each round and shot a 72 on the final day, which propelled her up the leaderboard by six spots.

Kayleigh Reinke started strong with a 74 (+2) in round one and finished tied for 32
nd.
Amber Mackiewicz shot her tournament-best 73 (+1) in round two and shot 241 over her three rounds.

Junior
Tatum Walsh played as an individual and shot an aggregate of 242. Her best round was the second, when she shot a 75 (+3).
