Carter Cheves announced the addition of transfer
Tommy McKenzie to its 2024-25 roster on Friday afternoon.
McKenzie, a native of Alberta, Canada, arrives in Harrisonburg after spending three seasons at the University of Idaho (2021-23). He has spent this spring semester training in Florida while also playing in several professional events.

- Big Sky Freshman of the Year in 2022 at Idaho, playing in eight tournaments for the Vandals
- Finished 17th at the Big Sky Championship in 2022 with three-round gross score of 220 (+10)
- Finished as top amateur at Puerto Rico Open (March 7-10), carding first round 69 (-3)
- Made Deans List four times at Idaho
- Brother, Scott, plays university hockey in Canada. His cousin Matt played pro baseball in Europe and cousin Jacob played pro hockey in Europe.
"We're excited to add Tommy to the roster in 2024," Cheves said. "He will be a great addition to the team and bring experience from all levels of golf (amateur, collegiate, and professional). We look forward to his contributions next season."
He will add to a Dukes roster already full of international flavor, joining
René Bergendi (Slovakia) and
Stefan Rojas (Luxembourg and Mexico) in JMU's 2024 signing class.
