HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison Athletics excelled in the most recent release of annual Academic Progress Rate (APR) data with high marks in both the single-year and multi-year data.

JMU's single-year APR score of 993 ranks near the top of department history. The score features 12 of the department's 17 programs earning a perfect score of 1,000, which represents an increase from nine programs the previous year. The list of 12 includes the men's programs of golf, soccer and tennis as well as the women's programs of basketball, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, softball, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis and volleyball.

Among the publicly available multi-year scores, 15 of JMU's 17 scoring programs either matched or increased scores from the previous year with five posting a perfect 1,000 (men's and women's golf, men's soccer, volleyball and softball). Fifteen programs exceeded the national average for the sport while one other matched the national average.

The men's and women's golf programs each posted their fourth consecutive year with 1,000, while volleyball had its second in a row. Other multi-year scores included women's soccer (997), swimming and diving (996), lacrosse (996), field hockey (994), women's tennis (992), track and field (991), women's basketball (991), men's tennis (990), baseball (986), football (984), men's basketball (983) and cross country (982).

JMU's five perfect multi-year scores of 1,000 represented the highest tally in the Sun Belt Conference. In conference-sponsored sports, the Sun Belt posted an overall APR score of 982, a two-point year-over-year increase, with 40 programs earning perfect scores of 1,000. The Sun Belt's 982 overall APR score is its highest in six years.Â
