HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison Head Cross Country CoachÂ
Rebekah Ricksecker announced the team's 2025 schedule on Wednesday morning, with the Dukes opening the new campaign on Saturday, Aug. 30 at Richmond's Spider Alumni Open.
"We will be racing at several competitive meets close to home and further away," said Ricksecker. "We're excited to have the opportunity to compete against Sun Belt Conference opponents when we travel to App State for the Firetower Project Run, and I am thrilled to bring our home meet back to New Market Battlefield this year. It's a beautiful course with rolling grassy hills and stunning mountain views that will be great preparation for our races at Virginia. We'd also like to welcome all JMU Cross Country/Track and Field alumni to race at our home meet in a special 5k alumni event, or just come cheer on the team and former teammates on Friday, September 26. We are excited to return to Foley, Ala. for the Sun Belt Championship, a fast course we are familiar with, and then return to UVA for the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships. We have a talented group of tough, hard-working athletes who've contributed to a strong team culture, and they're ready to do some big things."
The Dukes will remain in the Commonwealth to host the JMU Invitational at the New Market Battlefield in New Market, Va. The home meet is slated for Friday, Sept. 26, and will commence at 5 p.m.
From there, the team will head to Boone, N.C. for App State's Firetower Project Run (Oct. 3) followed by Virginia's Panorama Farms Invitational (Oct. 17) in Earlysville, Va.
The Sun Belt Cross Country Championships will take place at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve in Foley, Ala. for the fourth year in a row on Oct. 31. After a tune-up at Virginia Tech's Hokie Open (Nov. 7), the Dukes return to Panorama Farms for the NCAA Southeast Regional on Nov. 14.
The 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships will be held on Nov. 22 at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo.
