NEW MARKET, Va. –
Taylor Myers captured the individual title at the JMU Invitational with a 5K time of 19:01.2 to help lead James Madison cross country to a team victory at the New Market Battlefield on Friday afternoon.
Myers finished nearly 20 seconds ahead of runner-up Laura McConville of Mount St. Mary's, who crossed the line in 19:20.4.
JMU tallied 29 points (1-5-6-7-10) with
Elizabeth Scarpa (19:36.6),
Faith Ford (19:44.5),
Izzy Greene (19:45.9) and
Alayna Gifford (20:0.4) following Myers.
The Mountaineers came in second with 48 points (2-8-11-12-15), followed by VMI with 70 (3-4-16-18-29). Mary Washington (102), Eastern Mennonite (144), Randolph (172) and Sweet Briar (181) rounded out the field.

How It Happened
- Myers was in fifth at the 1.7-kilometer split in 6:17.2, moving to third at 3.8K (14:43.2), before cruising to victory.
- Ford made the biggest jump for the Dukes, moving from 12th in sixth after the 1.7-kilometer split.
- JMU's top-five finishers recorded an average time of 19:38 with a 1:09 spread.
