Former Old Dominion standout Sam Cameron joined the Dukes' staff in the spring of 2005.  Cameron was a three-year starter in goal for the Monarchs. As a senior in 2003 he was named to the NSCAA All-South Atlantic Region first team, the Colonial Athletic Association second team and the all-state second team. He also was a recipient of the 2002-03 CAA Commissioner's Academic Award.  As a goalie for the Monarchs Cameron recorded 18 career shutouts. He had a career goals-against average of 1.15 in 51 game appearances and 50 starts.  Cameron was a starter on the 2002 and 2003 ODU teams that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. .  Cameron has coaching experience with youth teams in the Virginia Beach Soccer Club and ODU Soccer Clinics. In 2003 he served as the goalkeeper coach for the Virginia Rush Soccer Club, working with goalkeepers ages 11-18. He also served as a summer camp counselor with IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla., where he assisted the director of goalkeeping from 1999 to 2001.  A native of Raleigh, N.C., Cameron earned a bachelor's degree in sports management with a minor in marketing and promotions from ODU in 2004. He is pursuing a master's degree in athletic administration and coaching at JMU.
