WILLIAMSBURG, Va., March 30, 2013 – William & Mary slipped by the James Madison men's tennis squad on Saturday as the Dukes fell 4-3 to the Tribe. JMU dropped to 5-8 overall and 2-1 against Colonial Athletic Association foes while William & Mary improved to 9-13 on the season and 2-0 against league opponents.

The Tribe struck first as they swept the doubles point to start the day with a 1-0 lead. Ben Hoogland and Adrian Vodislav defeated seniors Bastien Russo (Lyon, France/Notre Dame des Minimes (Shorter)) and Greg Vladimirsky (Staten Island, N.Y./Broward Virtual) 8-2 at No. 3 doubles before Anton Andersson and Aaron Chaffee won 8-6 over senior Ryan Pool (Melbourne, Australia/Braemar (Chattanooga)) and freshman Robert Stirling (Caboolture, Australia/St. Columbans College) at No. 1 doubles.

Entering singles play, John Banks kept the momentum rolling for William & Mary as he claimed a two-set victory (6-2, 6-2) over freshman Maxi Branth (Stockholm, Sweden/Tullinge Gymnasium) at No. 6 singles.

Vladimirsky put the Dukes on the board with a two-set win (6-3, 6-2) of his own over Ben Guthrie at No. 3 singles. Hoogland, however, put the Tribe up 3-1 when he took down Stirling 7-6, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. Stirling's loss snapped a four-match win-streak and he is now 7-6 this spring.

Pool brought JMU back within one as he notched a 6-4, 7-6 victory over Chaffee at No. 1 singles, his eighth win of the spring (3-0 against CAA), before senior Hugo Ramadier (Paris, France/Lycee Francais Chateabriand (Northern Arizona)) tied the match with a 7-6, 6-2 win over Will Juggins at No. 2 singles. The win pulled Ramadier to 5-5 in spring duals.

At No. 5 singles, senior Florent Sentenac (Borderes, France/Lycee Theophile Gautier (Auburn Montgomery)) led off the final match of the day with a 6-4 win in set one over Vodislav. Two straight 6-1 set wins, however, gave Vodislav the come-from-behind match win and the decisive fourth point for William & Mary.

The Dukes return to action tomorrow (March 31) as they trek north to Washington, D.C. JMU faces No. 66 George Washington at 1 p.m. at the GW Tennis Center.
