HARRISONBURG, Va. – This season, the James Madison women's soccer team is celebrating 25 years of excellence on the field. On August 13, head coach Dave Lombardo, the only coach in program history, announced his 25th Anniversary team featuring a handful of players that have left a lasting impact on the program beyond their time at JMU.
Â
Every two weeks leading up to the 25th Anniversary celebration game, a 7 p.m. match on Friday, Oct. 24, against William & Mary, one position group will be highlighted.
Â
This week's spotlight is on the nine forwards – Kim Argy, Jamie Dykes, Aimee Grahe, Christina "Corky" Julien, Annie Lowry, Cate Tisinger, Ashley Williamson, Lauren Wilson, Therese Wolden.
Â
"It's said that defense wins championships and that offense wins games," Lombardo said. "I'd argue that offense wins both! Nobody has ever won a game by not scoring goals. These players have tortured opposing defenses over the years and have found ways to score some very important goals to secure wins, CAA championships and NCAA Tournament runs to vault JMU into the national limelight. As a group, they were all very dynamic and have shown the coolness to handle the pressure that comes with the responsibility of being goal scorers."
