HARRISONBURG, Va – James Madison men's tennis took all 24 of the sets it played in its doubleheader against Howard and Coppin State on Friday at the East Campus Tennis Courts, winning both matches 7-0 and improving to 9-2 on the season.

The Dukes have now won five matches in a row and are a perfect 9-0 when playing on the East Campus Tennis Courts.

Damon Roberts earned the clinch, improving to 4-2 in dual season as a duo.

Kohler opened up singles play with more dominance, as he overwhelmed Roger Lyn in a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1. Sophomore
Gonzalo Adis shortly followed with a straight-set win of his own, taking down Karim Shokeir 6-3, 6-4.

Roberts sealed the match and clinched with a 7-5, 6-4 win at the No. 2 singles slot, improving his 2019 record to 7-1.

Karpinski and Adis earned a strong, 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles and the Dukes clinched the doubles point after Raymundo and Steinour earned their second 6-0 victory of the day.

"All three doubles teams looked good but Josh and Tate really didn't mess around or let their opponents breathe," coach
Steve Secord said.

In singles, no Duke lost more than four games and JMU combined to drop just eight. Adis was the first one off the court, winning 6-2, 6-0 followed by Roberts who also had a straightforward victory. Kohler used a 16-minute first set to surge ahead of Coppin State's Jorge Rodriguez Rey and clinch JMU's second win of the day with a 6-0, 6-4 triumph.

With the match in hand, Karpinski, Steinour and Raymundo all dominated for unblemished, 6-0 victories.

Coppin State fell to 0-3 with the loss.
