JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Four James Madison track & field student-athletes will compete in the 2019 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field East Preliminary Championship beginning on Thursday, May 23.

Senior
Nicolette Serratore is the first of four competing for JMU with her taking on the javelin on Thursday at noon. Serratore tossed her qualifying mark at the Roadrunner Invitational on March 21. She recorded a 48.43m (158'11") javelin throw to break her own school record.

On Friday,
Dominique Johnson and
Olivia Viparina will represent the Dukes. Johnson will compete in the discus at noon and Viparina will take on the 3000m steeplechase at 8:20 p.m. Johnson qualified with a throw of 52.38m (171'10") which she recorded at the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational. Viparina ran her qualifying time at the ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship with a time of 10:26.00.

Jantsen Wilson will compete in the triple jump on Saturday at 3 p.m. She qualified with her CAA winning jump of 12.97m (42'675") at the CAA Track and Field Championship.

In the discus, javelin and triple jump, it is a 'First Round' where the top 12 marks will move onto the NCAA Championship in Austin, Texas from June 5-8. The 3000m steeplechase is the quarterfinals where the top three of the heats plus the top three times will move onto the semifinals at the NCAA Championship in Austin, Texas on June 6.Â
