WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – James Madison made the short trek to Williamsburg to face William & Mary, dropping a 6-1 decision on Sunday afternoon at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Courts.
The Dukes fell to 2-1 on the season, while the Tribe moved to 1-0.
JMU notched one doubles win and one singles win in the loss.
William & Mary opened the match with a win at #1 doubles, as juniors
Alvaro Arce and
Gonzalo Adis fell 6-2 to Brenden Volk and George Davis. Sophomore
William Karpinski and
Holden Koons followed with a close loss to Danny Pellerito and Oren Vasser, 6-4. Seniors
Josh Raymundo and
Tate Steinour clinched their win at #2 with a 7-6 (2) victory against the Tribe's Joseph Brailovsky and Ruo Chen.
Arce earned his third-straight singles victory, downing Volk 6-4, 6-2 on court two. Sophomore
Stefan Petrovic nearly forced a third set Court 1 before falling to Brailovsky by scores of 6-2, 7-5.
