WASHINGTON, D.C. — The James Madison women's basketball team dropped their second-straight game as they fell 54-50 at George Washington Thursday evening at the Charles E. Smith Center. The Dukes fall to 3-4 on the season while the Colonials improve their overall record to 5-3.
JMU registered their third-straight game shooting under 30% from long range, shooting just 13.3% (2-15) from beyond the arc. GW saw one of their better three-point shooting nights with their 40.0 (6-15) three-point percentage.
The Dukes were led by
Kiki Jefferson with 20 points, seven rebounds and a season-best two blocks.
Jaylin Carodine led JMU on the boards with 12 rebounds for her second double-digit rebounding performance of the season.
Nya Lok led the Colonials with 15 points, including a 3-for-6 showing from the three-point line.
Statistically Speaking
- Despite struggling from three-point range, the Dukes shot 38% (19-50) from the floor while GW shot just 33.9% (20-59).
- JMU held the edge in points off turnovers (10-9), even though they committed more turnovers than the Colonials (17-10).

Annalicia Goodman added 10 points and six rebounds for the Dukes.
First Quarter: GW 16, JMU 15
- The game opened up with both teams going for bucket-for-bucket until JMU went on a 6-0 run to go up 10-7.
- GW broke the streak with a fastbreak layup at 3:22, followed by a three-pointer to put the Colonials back on top, 12-10.
- They went back to trading baskets for the remainder of the quarter with GW scoring the final bucket of the frame to have a one-point advantage.

Claire Neff led the Dukes in the opening quarter as she went 2-for-2 from the floor to register five points.
Second Quarter: GW 28, JMU 23
- The Colonials controlled much of the second quarter, going up by as much as seven points.
- JMU went 0-4 from beyond the arc while GW knocked down two triples on their way to outscore the Dukes 12-8 in the second.
Third Quarter: GW 44, JMU 37
- Carodine tied it at the 8:00 mark when she collected an offensive board and was fouled on the made layup. The senior made her free shot to tie it at 28.
- After Goodman put JMU up with a layup of her own, GW responded with seven unanswered points to take a 35-30 lead.
- Jefferson brought the Dukes back within one point with a layup and a pair of free throws, but the Colonials ended the quarter on a 9-3 run to lead by seven heading into the final frame.
Fourth Quarter: GW 54, JMU 50
- JMU tried to claw their way back on top as they outscored GW 13-10 in the fourth.
- Green knocked down a big-time three at 1:26 to bring the Dukes within two points.
- The Dukes then committed an unlucky turnover with just eight seconds left on the clock to give GW possession on their offensive end.
- JMU was forced to foul to keep as much time on the clock as possible, but the Colonials knocked down two free throws in the final seconds to put themselves just out of reach of the Dukes.
