Newark, Del. – The James Madison divers dominated the first day of the Colonial Athletic Association Championships claiming five of the eight spots in the 3-meter finals, while senior diver
Emily Gross went on to be crowned the 3-meter champion making it the third consecutive year that a JMU diver has won the event.
The JMU divers were ready to compete from the start of the meet as five Dukes qualified for the 3-meter finals. Senior
Faith Anderson lead the pack in the preliminary round scoring 289.25, a season-best score.
Sarah Stim followed closely in second with a 288.60 with sophomore
Lindsey Hammar behind in fifth with 263.45. Gross placed fifth in the preliminaries scoring a 253.70 while fellow teammate and freshman
Lexi Lehman followed in sixth with 239.85.
Sophomore
Felicity Ryan placed 12
th scoring 220.60 to qualify for the consolation finals. Senior
Sami Ullman claimed 14
th placed scoring 216.25 earning a spot in the consolation finals as well. Freshman
Meg Cresci placed 18
th in her first CAA Championships earning a 180.95.
In the consolation finals, Ryan battled to take second with the score of 234.40, her second best score in the event this season. Ullman placed sixth scoring 218.10.
In the finals,
Emily Gross took an early lead to finish with 297.90 to claim the gold at the CAA Championships. Stim worked hard during her six rounds, starting in fifth place climbing to third claiming the bronze in the finals recording a score of 276.75. Anderson was close behind Stim, placing fourth overall with a score of 274.35.
Lehman placed seventh scoring 244.35, with Hammar behind in eight recording 243.30.
