HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison swim & dive came away with nine wins across 16 events to battle Navy, but fell short 153-146, on Saturday inside Savage Natatorium.
The Dukes swept both diving events and both relay events, adding five wins in individual swimming events. Senior
Maddie O'Mera won the two diving events, while sophomore
Madison Wimmer also won multiple events in the pool.

Diving
- Continuing her impressive showing from the day before at Richmond, O'Mera swept both boards beginning with a 295.43 score on the 3-meter. She then won the 1-meter board with a score of 278.63.
- Redshirt junior Natalie Jones finished second behind O'Mera on both boards, recording scores of 273.38 and 264.15 on the 3-meter and 1-meter, respectively.
Individual Swimming
- Wimmer began the individual swimming events with a win in the 1000 Free, recording a time of 10:26.21. She then swam a time of 5:06.16 in the 500 Free to win that event as well.
- Sophomore Maddy Coombs swam a time of 2:04.14 for a win in the 200 Fly.
- The Dukes swept the 50 Free, as seniors Jamie Cornwell (23.66) and Alex Volk (23.85) took the first two places, respectively, and were followed by freshman Emory Hill (24.22) in third place.
- In the 100 Free, Volk earned the victory with a time of 52.06 ahead of Cornwell's time of 52.19.
Relay Swimming
- JMU earned victories in the two relays – the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay.
- The 200 Medley Relay began the swimming portion of the day, with the team of freshman Maria Costa, junior Riley Bridgman, Volk and Cornwell swimming a time of 1:45.10.
- Just missing out on the pool record by 28 hundredths of a second, the team of Cornwell, Wimmer, junior Maddie Lehman and Volk won the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:34.20.

The Dukes will take a two-week break before the team splits apart for different invitationals inside the Commonwealth. The swimmers will head to Charlottesville for the Cavalier Invitational on Feb. 5-7, while the divers travel to Blacksburg for the Virginia Tech Invitational on Feb. 6-8.
