ELON, N.C. – James Madison men's tennis dropped a tough match against Elon, 7-0, on Friday afternoon at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
The Dukes fall to a record of 7-7, while the Phoenix improve to 14-5.
After Elon won the first doubles match, redshirt freshman
Holden Koons and redshirt senior
Paul Mendoza came away with the victory on court one. They overpowered Chung-Han Tsai and Akram El Sallaly, capturing the 6-3 victory.

Oscar Hernandez.
JMU was unable to steal the momentum going into singles, dropping the first two singles matches on court six and three to the Phoenix. On court two, Arce forced a tiebreaker in set one before falling in straight sets to El Sallaly.
After falling in a first set tiebreaker, Koons won set two to force a super tiebreaker on court one. The redshirt freshman eventually fell to Kyle Frankel, 6-7, 6-4, 0-1 (5).

William Karpinski also forced Elon to a third set on court five. After winning the first set, he battled but dropped the next two sets to Nicholas Campbell, 6-1, 3-6, 5-7.

The Dukes will next take the court in the CAA Championship that will take place April 30 through May 2 in Williamsburg, Va.
