NORMAN, Okla. - The James Madison men's golf team has earned Golf Coaches Association of America Division I All-Academic Team honors after another strong year in the classroom, as announced by the GCAA this past week.
Â
To earn All-Academic Team honors, a team must record a team GPA of 3.0 or above for the entire school year. This season marks the third in a row in which the Dukes have earned the award, having accomplished the feat in both 2018-19 and 2019-20.
Â
JMU had a sterling year in the classroom in a difficult 2020-21 year. Last week, six Dukes -
Sigurður Blumenstein,
Ignacio De Pineda,
George Heath,
Ignacio Montero,
Nick Schlickenrieder and
Neal Shipley - were named to the Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for the spring semester.
Â
The CAA also named Montero the 2020-21 Institutional Male Scholar-Athlete presented by Premis for James Madison in April.
Â
The Dukes will return nearly their entire roster for the 2021-22 season, their second under Cheves. JMU released
its complete 2021-22 schedule earlier this month and has added
incoming freshman Daniel Cheng for this upcoming year.
