HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison volleyball earned its sixth sweep of the season with a 3-0 win (25-23, 25-21, 25-13) over Old Dominion on Friday evening at Sinclair Gym.
The Dukes improved to 10-4 (4-1), and the Monarchs fell to 7-9 (2-1).
Miëtte Veldman led the match with 17 kills and a .452 hitting percentage, while
Caroline Dozier recorded 35 assists. The Dukes out hit the Monarchs .297 to .122 and tallied seven aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
Old Dominion got off to a quick 3-0 lead, but JMU to pulled it back 6-6. The rest of the set was even, with the Dukes recording a 3-0 run to take the set after being down 23-22.
Second Set
In another even set, a 5-0 run put the Dukes up 24-19 and converted the final point to go up 2-0 in the match.
Third Set
JMU started off with an 8-2 lead early on and kept ODU at bay for the entire set, only allowing a 4-0 run from the Monarchs in the middle of the set. A final 8-2 run secured the Dukes' sweep to start off the weekend.
