HARRISONBURG, Va. – James Madison softball shut out Towson 8-0 on Sunday afternoon to sweep the weekend series against the Tigers at Veterans Memorial Park.
The Dukes improved to 12-13 (3-0 CAA) while Towson fell to 9-16 (0-3 CAA).
Jasmine Hall started it off for JMU in the bottom of the second with her fifth home run of the week.
The Dukes racked up six runs in the bottom of the fifth to expand their lead. With the bases loaded,
Hannah Shifflett was walked to send home
Isabelle Fishman.
Hallie Hall followed with single through the left side to add to the tally.
With the bases still loaded, Phillips made it on base after getting hit by a pitch to bring in
Morgan Mesaros. The next two runs came from wild pitches, with Shifflett and H. Hall making their way home. J. Hall rounded out the inning with an RBI single to left field.
In the bottom of the sixth,
Lauren Bernett sealed the win for the Dukes with a home run to right field, bringing in the third run-rule win of the weekend.
Alissa Humphrey pitched all six innings for the Dukes and allowed just two hits.

The Dukes will host in-state opponent George Mason for a doubleheader on Wednesday, March, 30 at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on the Varsity App.
