NEW ORLEANS – James Madison junior Václav Tichýwas named Second Team All-Sun Belt in a vote by the league's men's golf coaches on Tuesday afternoon.
Tichý, a native of Prague, Czech Republic, played in all 11 tournaments for the Dukes in 2024-25, leading the team with a 71.50 stroke average in 32 rounds of action – the lowest by a JMU player since Ryan Cole finished with a 70.84 average in the 2016-17 season.
He finished his season with seven rounds in the 60s, including a 62 (-8) in the second round of the JT Poston Intercollegiate on Sept. 16, which broke a school record for single-round score and tied for the lowest versus par. Tichý also racked up 119 birdies, the third-most in a single season by a Dukes' player.
Tichý notched seven top-25 finishes, five in the top 10, and four in the top five. His best finish was a tie for second at the Seahawk Intercollegiate on March 25. He placed as JMU's No. 1 finisher seven times and led the Dukes in par-3 (3.121) and par-4 (4.049) scoring.
