The transfer from Maryland averaged 22.0 points per game for the Dukes' 20-11 team in 1989-90 and 20.7 points per outing for their 19-10 squad in 1990-91. Both JMU teams on which Hood competed compiled the CAA's best regular-season record and participated in the National Invitation Tournament. Hood had 68 three-point field goals during the 1989-90 season and 54 during the 1990-91 campaign, and his 46.4 percent (122-263) career three-point shooting mark remains a JMU record.
The New Carrollton, Md., native had seven 30-point scoring efforts in two JMU seasons, including 36 points against Oklahoma and 32 against North Carolina and Nevada-Las Vegas, and he averaged 21.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in 60 career JMU games. He was a starter in each JMU game for two seasons.
