Malcolm Peace rejoined the JMU men's tennis program in August 2014 as an assistant coach.
"I am humbled to be coming back to JMU to work with Coach Steve Secord in my new role as assistant men's tennis coach," Peace expressed. "I thrive knowing that the investment we put in for each of our student-athletes results not only in personal growth during their time at JMU, but ultimately over the course of their lives. JMU, the athletic department, and the university as a whole, has shown me that this place truly has the heart, people, and tools necessary to recruit and develop student-athletes to graduate and succeed in life."
Peace served as the volunteer assistant coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2013-14. He is a JMU men's tennis alumnus and a 2013 JMU graduate. He earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology with a focus on leadership development and service and served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as the JMU men's tennis representative.
As a freshman, Peace competed with the men's tennis program at Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis. He competed as high as No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles as a freshman on the 2009-10 team that advanced to the Summit League Tournament semifinals.
"I am extremely excited to welcome Malcolm back to the program as our assistant coach!" Secord said. "Malcolm has been a student-athlete, and he gained so much experience last year as our volunteer coach and I am certain he will do a phenomenal job in his new role. He has such a genuine enthusiasm for wanting to help our student-athletes become better tennis players and more importantly great young men who will represent themselves and our University at the highest level."
Peace is a certified tennis professional by the United States Professional Tennis Association. He served as the head professional at Massanutten Resort in summer 2012 and summer 2013.
