HARRISONBURG, Va., Sept. 14, 2007 ? Seven different players scored a goal and James Madison University posted its fourth shutout in six matches this season with a 7-0 victory over the University of Richmond on Friday night at the JMU Field Hockey Complex.

JMU, ranked eighth nationally in the most recent STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association top 20 poll, improved to 5-1 with the victory while winning its third in a row. Richmond dropped its sixth straight match in falling to 1-6. The Dukes lead the all-time series 33-4-1, although the Spiders had won two of the last three coming into the contest.

The game-winning goal came eight minutes into the match from sophomore Meghan Bain (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional), her third goal of the season and second game winner. Junior Jenny Eakin (Burke, Va./Lake Braddock) scored with seven minutes to go in the half to put the Dukes up 2-0 at the break. The goal was assisted by junior Lauren Walls (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional).

JMU poured on three goals in the first eight minutes in the second half. Freshman Randi Segear (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) scored just 1:10 into the period with an assist from junior Ashley Walls (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional). Lauren Walls added a goal seven minutes into the half, and sister Melissa Walls (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional) scored just 30 seconds later from senior Lauren Stefaniak (Plymouth, Pa./Wyoming Valley West).

Stefaniak picked up her second assist of the night and third of the season by setting up freshman Becky Hilgar (Barto, Pa./Upper Perkiomen Valley) on her first career goal with the Dukes in the 52nd minute of the contest. Fellow freshman Dolores de Rooij (Vaardingen, The Netherlands/Erasmiaans) scored unassisted for her second goal of the season with two minutes remaining.
