Dukes Serve Up Solid First Day of Hokie Fall Invite

BLACKSBURG, Va. – James Madison women's tennis posted a 12-2 overall showing on the first day of the Hokie Fall Invite.
Junior Timea Guibeand freshman Abby Amoseach went 3-0 on Friday, picking up a pair of doubles wins alongside a singles victory. Guibe won in straight 6-2 sets over Miami (OH)'s Anna Rajkovic in the UT Prosim Flight quarterfinals while Amos won 6-1, 6-2 against Wofford's Kalli Karas in the Brotherhood Flight quarterfinals.
In doubles action, Guibe and freshman Bella Heidenreich picked up where they left off a weekend ago, going 2-0 in Orange Flight action to move to 5-0 on the season. They defeated Wofford's Lauren Reid and Mareli Sanchez 6-2 in the round-of-16 before taking down Penn State's Katia Blik and Devan McCluskey 6-4 in the quarterfinals. Saturday's semifinal round brings VCU's Anna Rasmussen and Yana Morar.
The freshman duo of Amos and Emma Petersenearned a spot in Saturday's semifinal doubles round with a pair of victories in Maroon Flight Doubles, winning 6-4 in the round-of-16 and 6-3 in the quarterfinals. Junior Rachel Nelsonand sophomore Dylan Owenswon their quarterfinal matchup in White Flight Doubles 6-2 to advance to the semifinals as well.
Junior Rebecca Harrisstretched her singles win streak to four matches (4-1) with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Natalie Sayer (Radford) in the Sacrifice Flight quarterfinals.
JMU continues at the Hokie Fall Invite on Saturday with both a round of doubles and a round of singles.
