RICHMOND, Va. – James Madison sophomore
Miranda Stanhope was recognized as the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Â
Stanhope registered a top-20 individual finish at the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa., placing 16th out of 341 runners. She paced all CAA runners at the event, covering the 6K course in a personal-best time of 20:26.3.
Â
Her effort helped JMU to an 18th-place finish in the 38-team field.
Â
Stanhope's mark was also the second-fastest time by a JMU student-athlete in the history of the Paul Short Run, as only Alison Parris has a faster time (20:15 in 2010).
Â
The Dukes return to action on Friday, Oct. 15 when they travel to State College, Pa., for the Penn State Open.
