Madison Cottrell swept the Colonial Athletic Association Postseason Awards as she was named CAA Swimmer of the Year and Rookie of the Year, while
Dane Pedersen was named Women's Swimming Co-Coach of the Year and
John Wolsh was named Women's Diving Co- Coach of the Year, as announced by the association on Friday morning.Â

Cottrell is the first swimmer in program history, and the first in the CAA since Mary Kay Bolduc of Old Dominion in 1996, to sweep the major awards. She is the second Duke overall to accomplish the feat after Taryn McLaughlin was named CAA Rookie Diver of the Year and Diver of the Year in 2014.
Cottrell had a dominate rookie campaign as she ended the season with five individual first place finishes and three relay victories. Â
In her first CAA Championships, she collected two individual gold medals, one individual silver and two silvers from Relays. Cottrell won the 100 Fly at the CAA Championships with a time of 53.91 and the 200 Back with a time of 1:57.10. In the 200 Back she shaved over three seconds off her prelims time (2:00.56) to take the gold while recording a B Cut NCAA time in the event and setting a new JMU record in the event as well. The freshman claimed the silver in the 100 Back with a time of 54.99. She was a member of the second place 200 Free Relay (1:31.66) and the second place 400 Medley Relay (3:42.76) at the CAA Championships.
Cottrell etched her name in the JMU All-Time Top 10 list in all her events this season; 50 Free seventh all time, 100 Back second fastest time, 200 Back school record and 100 Fly second fastest time.

Pedersen won his fourth conference nod as he was named CAA Co-Coach of the Year in his seventh year at the helm of the Dukes after leading them to their fourth consecutive conference title, and 11
th in program history.

Wolsh was named CAA Diving Co-Coach of the Year, earning the award for the fifth time in his career. This season he coached six divers to the NCAA Zone A Championships, three of which qualified for the 3-meter finals. He guided the Dukes to claim four of the six medals at the CAA Diving Championships.
Multiple Dukes earned All-CAA accolades base on their performances at the 2021 CAA Swimming & Diving Championship including Cottrell,
Bailey Butler, Emily Gross, Lindsey Hammar, Sarah Stim, Morgan Whaley, Karen Siddoway, Julianna Jones, Jordyn Schnell, Alain Park, Lauren Aylmer, Cameron Gring, Paige Assaid, and
Mack Lawson.
