LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty rallied to claim the doubles point and won four straight-set singles bouts en route to downing James Madison, 6-1, in non-conference men's tennis action Saturday afternoon at the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center.

The Flames improved to 3-1 on the year, while the Dukes fell to 1-3.

Liberty's duo of Mitija Samardzic and Luis Felipe Miguel rallied form down 6-5 in the decisive doubles match, winning the tiebreak 7-2 to claim the doubles point for the hosts. In singles play, the Flames dropped four games or less on courts one, three and four to clinch the match.

For JMU, the team of
Esteve Agusti and
Aathreya Mahesh picked up a doubles win on court one, while
Julian Lozano battled his way to a straight-set singles victory on court two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Doubles Play
- Liberty gained the advantage on court two, as Thando Longwe-Smit and Rafael Marques Da Silva cruised past Lozano and Youssef Sadek, 6-0.
- JMU's tandem of Agusti and Mahesh evened doubles up with a 6-2 triumph on court one over Romeo Hadzimehmedovic and Deji Thomas-Smith.
- The Dukes held a 6-5 lead on court three, but Samardzic and Miguel forced a tiebreak with Edson Sanchez and Francisco Sinopolo, winning the breaker at 7-2.

Singles Play
- Longwe-Smit conceded just one game to Sinopoli on court four, doubling LU's lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
- Da Silva took down Sadek by scores of 6-0, 6-2 on court one to extend the lead to 3-0.
- The Flames clinched the match on court three, where Miguel claimed a 6-2, 6-2 victory versus Agusti.
- Lozano got JMU on the board over on court two, as he fended off Thomas-Smith by scores of 6-4, 6-4 win.
- On court five, Samardzic held off a tight one in the second set to register a 6-3, 7-5 victory against Markus Giersiepen.
- Harrison Lee took a set lead in a 9-7 tiebreak before ultimately falling to Chase Robinson in a super tiebreaker, 11-9. The match on court six ended with Robinson edging Lee by scores of 6-7 (7), 6-2, 1-0 (9).
