MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama got off to a fast start, winning a pair of doubles matches and three singles matches in straight sets to upend James Madison, 4-3, in Sun Belt Conference women's tennis action Saturday afternoon at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.
The Jaguars improved to 8-2 on the season and 2-0 in Sun Belt play, while the Dukes fell to 5-6 overall and 1-1 in league matches.
JMU produced singles wins from
Alexandra Prudente,
Daria Munteanu and
Ines Oliveira, as the latter two both won in super tiebreakers.
It was the fourth straight singles win for both Prudente and Oliveira. In addition, Munteanu saved five match points, while Oliveira stormed back from a 9-3 deficit in the super.
It was USA's first win against JMU, as JMU won both in the regular season and Sun Belt Championship a season ago.

Doubles Play
- South Alabama took the 1-0 match lead with wins on courts one and two.
- The team of Delien Kleinhans and Nikola Novotna claimed a 6-1 victory against Cate Broerman and Prudente on court two.
- The Jaguars clinched the point on court one, as Tereza Dejnozkova and Elysia Pool downed Oliveier and Munteanu, 6-3.
- The final match on court three went unfinished with USA's duo up 4-3.
Singles Play
- Kleinhans made it 2-0 for South Alabama on court six, defeating Sara Sadadinovic, 6-1, 6-1.
- Pool extended the host's lead to 3-0 over on court two, as she downed Broerman by the same score, dropping just two total games.
- Manal Ennaciri clinched the match on court four, where she earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Hope Moulin.
- JMU got on the board on court five, as Prudente led Chems Doha Zechlouli 7-5 after a set before the USA player retired.
- Munteanu earned the first of JMU's two super-tiebreak wins, as she rallied from a set down to beat Dejnozkova, 3-6, 7-6 (2), 1-0 (6). In the win, she fended off five match points en route to the win.
- Oliveira capped off the day with a thrilling comeback in the super on court three. After splitting sets with Novotna, she trailed 9-3 before reeling off eight straight points while staving off six match points, taking home the 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (9) triumph.
