ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Senior
Jamie Cornwell won the 100 Free to end the weekend for James Madison swim & dive at the Navy Invitational on Saturday inside Lejeune Hall.

The Dukes as a team scored 1,701.50 across the three-day meet, finishing fourth out of eight teams.

After taking the top time in the prelim, Cornwell swam a time of 49.17 to secure the victory in the 100 Free.

Quoting Head Coach Dane Pedersen
"We use this weekend of competition to practice and prepare for our conference championships at the end of the season and to collect data points to evaluate as we move into the second half of our season," said Pedersen. "Overall the team performed wonderfully and achieved so much and we learned a lot. We can't wait to move forward and continue to develop and grow for the championship season."

To kick off the night, sophomore
Madison Wimmer finish fourth in the 1650 Free after recording a time of 16:57.48. The Dukes then advanced seven into the finals of the 200 Back, where freshman
Maria Costa highlighted the group with a sixth-place finish after swimming a time of 2:01.64. In the 200 Breast, senior
Ann Chappell Ellington lead four Dukes in the finals by securing a time of 2:02.25 to finish third in the B Final. Sophomore
Maddy Coombs led the Dukes in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:01.39 to finish fifth.

JMU capped the night by earning a second-place finish in the 400 Free Relay, as the team of Wimmer, Ellington, senior
Alex Volk and Cornwell swam a time of 3:21.16. The time was the eight fastest in program history for the event.

On the platform,
Emma LaFountain advanced to the finals and finished ninth with a score of 134.80.

The Dukes will be back in the pool on Thursday, Dec. 18 when they travel to Towson for a dual meet scheduled for a noon start.
