2009: Redshirted his true freshman season and retained the year of eligibility.
High School: Named Honorable Mention All-State kicker his final season... Earned First-Team All-Region honors his junior and senior seasons... Was Associated Press Second Team Group A All-State as a junior after going 9-for-12 on field goals, including a school record of 52 yards... Also averaged nearly 60 yards per kickoff... First-Team All-Shenandoah District kicker all four years... Also was state runner-up and region champion in the high jump his senior year and holds the school record with a leap of 6'8"... two-time school Male Athlete of the Year.
Personal: Parents are David and Janet Hopewell... Uncle John played college basketball at Hampden-Sydney while brother Matt played soccer at Marshall... Major is exercise science.
