At JMU: Fifth-year Duke who is an athletic performer and has filled a variety of roles, said kickers coach Clayton Matthews… returning regular punter who has also worked as the team’s holder for placement kicks… worked as a wide receiver and defensive back earlier during his JMU career.
2009: Punted for JMU throughout the season, averaging 37.8 yards on 54 punts… left opponents inside their 20-yard line with 12 of his punts… had a season-long 65-yard punt in JMU’s 24-10 win at Liberty… coming with JMU at its six-yard line and leading 17-10 midway through the fourth quarter… averaged 46.3 yards on three punts at Liberty… had nine punts of 50 yards or longer, including two each vs. Richmond, William & Mary and Maine… averaged 40.6 yards on five punts at Delaware and 40.4 on seven at William & Mary… left Massachusetts inside its 20 with four punts in JMU’s 17-14 win… kicked off for JMU 11 times, including five times during the season-opener at Maryland… had a tackle at Maryland.
2008: Appeared in eight games as a reserve defensive back and special teams player and punter… had an assisted tackle vs. Massachusetts… punted at Maine and vs. Hofstra… at Maine averaged 39.8 yards on five punts with a long punt of 48 yards… had a punt downed at the Maine nine… vs. Hofstra averaged 47.0 yards on three punts with a long of 57 yards… had a punt downed at the Hofstra one… kicked off three times at Richmond, twice at Villanova with one touchback, and once vs. Delaware.
2007: Played in seven games as a reserve defensive back and on special teams… had an assist vs. New Hampshire… on the team’s travel roster throughout the year after sitting out 2006 as a freshman redshirt when he was team offensive scout Player of the Year for his practice efforts.
High School: As a Robinson senior was Second-Team All-District and Honorable Mention All-Region and All-Metro (Washington, D.C.) as a quarterback… as a junior was First-Team All-District and All-Region and Second-Team All-Metro as a kicker… played in a program that won four district titles and a region crown and reached a state title game… regional all-star game invitee.
Personal: Completed his kinesiology degree with a sports management concentration and will graduate in December with his master’s in sports leadership… JMU’s national student-athlete conference delegate.
