RICHMOND, Va. - The James Madison swimming and diving team took home nine victories en route to a 167-123 victory over in-state rival Richmond on Saturday afternoon.

"The girls did a good job of competing today," Head Coach
Dane Pedersen said. "I thought the swimmers started a little flat, but they responded well throughout the meet and finished strong."

After the Spiders earned wins in the opening two events, JMU responded with a 1-2-3 sweep in the 200 freestyle, as junior
Kristen Zielinski (Chesapeake, Va./Grassfield) took first with a time of 1:53.02, just ahead of freshman
Quinn MacMillan (New Britain, Pa./Central Bucks West) in 1:53.49 and sophomore
Shannon Harper (Triangle, Va./Forest Park) in 1:54.73.

Sin Hye Won (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) captured the first of her two individual victories by claiming the 100 breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:04.72, while junior
Camilla Czulada (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) and Zielinski went 1-2 in the 50 freestyle in 23.99 and 24.03, respectively.

On the boards, sophomore
Taryn McLaughlin (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) took runner-up honors in the 3-meter event with a score of 281.92, just 1.21 behind the winner, before rolling to a 36-point victory in the 1-meter after tallying a 303.67.

Olivia Lehman (Dayton, Ohio/Centerville) took fourth in both the 3-meter and 1-meter with scores of 245.63 and 255.60, respectively, while junior
Carly Alexander grabbed a pair of fifth-place finishes at 243.68 and 249.82.

Czulada and Zielinski notched their second 1-2 finish of the day in the 100 freestyle, clocking times of 52.39 and 53.15, respectively, to take the first of three straight JMU victories.

Sophomore
MaryElizabeth Warhol (Yorktown, Va./York) followed with a 2:06.08 to win the 200 backstroke and freshman
Katie Parker (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) clocked a 2:19.80 to take first in the 200 breaststroke for the second straight week.

Won, Harper and Parker wrapped up the individual events with a 1-2-3 sweep in the 200 individual medley, as Won notched a 2:09.29 to out-touch Harper in 2:09.33, while Parker put the cap in the day at 2:11.00.

"We had a good contingency of family, alumni and fans in the stands today," Pedersen said. "It's so great to see purple and gold cheering for us while we're on the road."

The Dukes will be back in the pool next weekend when they return to Savage Natatorium for their final home meet of the season. JMU will welcome swimmers from Campbell and divers from Clemson to Harrisonburg for a contest starting at 1 p.m.
