PHILADELPHIA, Pa., April 25, 2013 – James Madison track & field sent two field athletes to compete on Thursday in the 119th Penn Relays. The Dukes had one competitor in both the shot put and the hammer throw.
Freshman Adrienne Alexander (Queens, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) notched a 14th-place finish out of 23 competitors in the college women's shot put with a distance of 13.17 meters (43'2 1/2”). She currently holds the second-best distance in JMU history, a mark of 13.56 meters (44'6”) she hit on April 13 at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational.
Senior Adrena May (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) finished 20th out of 24 athletes in the college women's hammer throw competition. She tossed the hammer 46.70 meters (153'2”) on her second attempt on Thursday afternoon. Earlier this month, May threw the hammer 50.52 meters to set a school record at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational (April 5).
JMU will wrap up the regular season on Saturday when the Dukes run the 4x800-meter relay at 4:10 p.m. on the final day of the Penn Relays.
