HIGH POINT, N.C. – James Madison track & field added six performances to the program's record book following a successful weekend at High Point's VertKlasse Meeting at Vert Stadium.
Sophomore sprinter
Faith Fuqua etched her name into the JMU record book with a 24.07 clip in the 200-meter dash for fourth on the list and third in the competition. Freshman
Bria Byrd improved upon her No. 4 time in program history in the 400-meter hurdles, going 1:01.12 for second.
Elsewhere on the track, the Dukes clocked in at 3:42.64 in the 4x400-meter relay for silver, ran by the quartet of
Kadence Wilson,
Zariah Ricks,
Esther Saint-Germain, and
Christine Fitzgerald for the No. 6 time in team history. Meanwhile, the 4x100-meter relay team of Wilson, Ricks, Fuqua, and
Kyndal Turner picked up bronze in 45.86 – good for seventh in school history.
Turner also produced a wind-aided time of 11.52 (+3.2) in the 100-meter dash for second in the race and second among wind-aided times in the JMU record book. Coming into the meet, Turner's personal best time in the event was 11.80w at the 2025 Sun Belt Championship.
In the field,
Aidan Faith is now tied for seventh in the JMU record book in the high jump with a third-place effort of 1.67m (5-5.75).
How It Happened
- Bria Byrd took silver in the long jump with a wind-aided leap of 6.13m (+3.7).
- Faith Ketchum placed fifth in the steeplechase in 11:56.87, followed by Elizabeth Scarpa, who was eighth in 12:08.06.
- Vashaun Broadus rounded out the top five in the 100-meter hurdles with a wind-aided time of 14.39 (+2.3).
- In the 800 meters, Alayna Gifford notched a career-best time of 2:14.41 for eighth.
- Taylor Myers finished eighth in the 1,500-meter race with a PR of 4:39.09.
- Madison Greene also placed eighth, leaping 11.71m (38-5) in the triple jump.
