CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – James Madison turned in four top-10 finishes in track and field action at the Virginia Grand Prix on Saturday afternoon.
In the shot put, juniors
Sidra Morris and
Dominique Johnson landed in sixth and eighth place, respectively with distances of 14.00 and 13.53 meters. Johnson's 13.53-meter throw bested her previous personal record.
Morris also secured a ninth-place finish in the hammer throw, launching a distance of 50.27 meters. Johnson finished fourth out of 12 throwers in the discus throw with a mark of 47.12 meters.
Freshman
Matasha Martin improved her long jump personal best, jumping into 14th place with a 5.52-meter mark.
Senior
Tyrah Burrow ran the 400-meter race in 57.47 seconds, crossing the finish line in 17th place.

The Dukes will travel to Williamsburg to compete in the Colonial Athletic Association championships from May 4-5.
