BLACKSBURG, Va. – James Madison track & field completed action at the VA Tech Challenge held at Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon.

Porsha Miles finished fifth out of 17 runners in the 400m dash with a time of 58.05 seconds.

In the distance medley race, Brooke Manion, Jordan Bourgeois, Sinead Sargeant and Megan Keady teamed up to win the race in an ECAC qualifying time of 12:05.91. Maddy Hesler, Porsha Miles, Sophie Bollinger and Laura Webb finished right behind in second place in 12:29.54.

Day One Recap
Senior Meredith Willis posted two dominant performances to lead James Madison track & field in the first day of action at the VA Tech Challenge on Friday night.

Willis began her great night in the 60m prelims as she set her then-personal record with a time of 7.60. In the finals, she broke that record and finished third with a time of 7.56 seconds which places her fifth all-time in JMU history.

In the 200m race, she took first place in a personal record time of 24.01 seconds. Tally Lott turned in an ECAC qualifying time of 25.40 in the 200m race.

Caitlin Swanson began action for the Dukes in the meet, finishing in fourth in the mile race in 5:11.07, her personal best time. In the 600m race Maggie Linton (1:36.31) and Annie Dunlop (1:36.42) finished second and third respectively.

To kick things off in the field events, Dardlie Lefevre placed second in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 5.68m. Tess Lee joined Lefevre in the top-10 with an eighth-place finish, jumping 5.37 meters.

In the pole vault Rachel Lloyd jumped into third place, recording a leap of 3.45m.

"We ran well this weekend," head coach Ron McCown said. "It was great to see Meredith Willis get two PR's and move up on the ECAC and JMU top-ten list. It was also great to get the DMR qualified for ECAC's. Now our ECAC qualifiers continue to get primed for that competition and the rest of the group shifts gears to get ready for the outdoor season.
