CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – James Madison track & field sprinter
Holly Mpassy continues to shine in the 400-meter dash, recording a program-best time of 54.36 on Friday afternoon at the Virginia Challenge.
Previously, Mpassy's personal-best outdoor time was 54.40, set earlier this season at the Raleigh Relays on March 24. The sophomore also owns the fastest indoor 400-meter dash time in school history, a 54.10 effort produced at last year's ECAC Indoor Championships.
How it Happened
Track Events
- Senior Laura Webb took fifth in the 1500-meter race, finishing with a PR of 4:33.84.
- In the 100-meter dash, freshman Asia Powell crossed the line in 11.59 (+2.3), her second-fastest time this season.
Field Events
- Seniors Bethany Biggi and Erin Babashak tallied 4,622 and 4,350 points, respectively, in their first heptathlon competition of the season.
- Classmate Rachel Lloyd registered a season-best height of 3.83m (12' - 6.75") for second place in the pole vault.
- In the triple jump, junior Jordan Venning recorded a leap of 12.08m (+5.1), just off her career-best outdoor mark of 12.12m.
- Senior Shelby Staib capped off the day with a fifth-place finish in the javelin competition with a throw of 45.28m.
