PHILADELPHIA – James Madison track & field battled the rain to earn three top-five finishes on day two of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field Friday night.
How it Happened
Field Events
- Senior Rachel Lloyd cleared 3.78m (12' – 4.75") to tie for fourth in the pole vault competition. The mark is her second-best of the season behind her 3.83-meter (12' – 6.75") performance at the Virginia Challenge last weekend.
- In the high jump, classmate Alex Kwasnik fought her way to fourth with a height of 1.59m (5' – 2.5").
- Graduate student Skyla Davidson (third) and junior Jordan Venning (ninth) both advanced to the finals in the triple jump, with leaps of 11.82m (38' – 9.5") and 11.45m (37' – 6.75"), respectively. Davidson was one of just three competitors to record a mark on each of her first three attempts. Additionally, JMU and Penn were the only schools to have multiple individuals reach the finals.
Relay Events
- The 4x100-meter relay crew of sophomore Kaia Putman, freshman Asia Powell, and sophomores Virginia Keys and Holly Mpassy started the day on the track for the Dukes. The crew finished in 47.28, narrowly missing out on qualifying for Saturday's final.
