PRINCETON, N.J. – James Madison track and field scored in five events in the finals round to achieve a second-place finish among 52 scoring squads on the final day of the 2015 ECAC Championships on Sunday at William Weaver Stadium.

"As we talked about yesterday, the team came out ready to lay it on the track and do their best," Head Coach Cheree Hicks said. "They did that in big fashion. It's indicative of the way they did it all season, fighting and scraping and competing for every point. They did that at CAA and here at ECAC."

JMU finished with 40 points, second behind George Mason (53). The rest of the top five included Hampton (37), Albany (36.75) and UMBC (32.75).

The 4x100-meter relay set the tone for the day with a third-place finish in 45.99 seconds. The group of freshman

Kennedy King became just the second JMU team in program history to break 46 seconds.

Carol Strock placed fifth in the finals of the 1,500-meter run in 4:29.52 to earn four points. Forbes picked up six points with a third-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles in 13.89 seconds. The final individual points came from Johnson in fourth place in the 100-meter dash in 11.96 seconds.

Madison's third third-place finish of the day came from the 4x800-meter relay. The all-senior team of
Kristen Landry,
Kelsey Langton,
Morgan Sheaffer and
Tiel Westbrook earned the final six points in a time of 8:55.00, good for ninth in JMU history.

Hicks said, "Today was a great culmination of the season. We knew that we had a pretty strong chance of doing some great things. To be able to be consistent and carry it out through the entire season and finish strong here was awesome."
