RICHMOND, Va. – James Madison saw four event winners and set one personal record in its outdoor track and field season-opener at the VCU Ram Invite this weekend in Richmond.
DAY ONE
Junior
Sidra Morris won the hammer throw with a throw of 47.81 meters and also won the shot put, setting her personal record with a distance of 13.83 meters.
In the 200-meter race, the Dukes turned in five top-nine finishes out of 32 runners in seniors
De'Ana Forbes (fifth) and
Aereale Scott (ninth), junior
Meredith Willis (sixth), freshman
Tally Lott (seventh) and sophomore
Alexys Taylor (eighth). Forbes led the Dukes with a 25.21-second finish, Willis followed in 25.43 seconds, Lott turned in a 25.44-second finish, while Taylor and Scott crossed the line in 25.58 and 25.60 seconds, respectively.
Freshman
Katie Fox finished eighth out of sixteen runners in the 1,500-meter race with a time of 5:06.80.
DAY TWO RESULTS | VIEW RESULTS
Freshman
Tally Lott won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.75 seconds while fellow freshman
Matasha Martin finished in fourth place out of 17 runners in 13.15 seconds.
Martin turned in a second place finish out of 12 jumpers in the long jump with a leap of 5.37 meters.
In the 800-meter race, senior
Erica Gray finished fourth followed by freshman
Sophie Bollinger who finished fifth out of 12 runners with respective times of 2:23.25 and 2:23.53.
Senior
Gina Bischof took first in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 1:04.54.
Senior
Charlie Bell, junior
Meredith Willis and sophomores
Jordan Bourgeois and
Alexys Taylor ran the 4x400-meter relay in 3:55.46, good for a second place finish.

"The weather was not in favor today; however, we were able to get in enough work to build on in the next two weeks. That is the beauty of the outdoor season, we have to play the hand nature deals us and compete regardless of the weather conditions."

James Madison will split the team, competing at the Raleigh Relays and Texas Relays on March 30-31, in Raleigh, N.C. and Austin, Texas, respectively.
