LYNCHBURG, Va. – Freshmen
Bethany Biggi and
Erin Babashak set their personal records in the pentathlon as they began action for James Madison track & field at the Liberty Elite Invitational on Thursday afternoon at Liberty.

Biggi finished with 3,117 points, securing sixth place while Babashak finished in eighth with 3,050 total points. Neither of the two secured more than 3,000 points in their previous pentathlons last season.

Both freshmen set their personal records in the shot put with Biggi leading the way with a mark of 9.39m followed by Babashak launching a distance of 7.80m. Additionally, Biggi set her personal record in the 60m hurdles race in 9.93 seconds.

Biggi's better performance came in the 800m race as she ran a personal best 2:28.30, allowing her to finish in second place out of 14 competitors. In the long jump, Babashak earned a third-place finish with a mark of 5.31m.

Both of their high jump performances were .01m away from their personal best as Biggi jumped into fourth place with a mark of 1.59m and Babashak finished in sixth at 1.53m.
