Track & Field Announces 2021-22 Schedule

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The James Madison track and field program has released its 2021-22 indoor and outdoor schedule as announced by the director of track & field/cross country Ta' Frias on Monday.

JMU opens the indoor season with an early meet in Annapolis, Md. on Dec. 4 at the Navy Invite. The Dukes will then spend the month of January competing across the state in the VMI Invite (Jan. 16), the Liberty Kickoff (Jan. 21-22) and the VMI Winter Relays (Jan. 28-29).Â

The weekend of Feb. 11-12, the team will be split as some of the Dukes head to Boston, Mass. for the Valentine Invite while other student-athletes will compete in the Liberty Invite. The final meet of the indoor regular season will take place at Virginia Tech the weekend of Feb. 18-19 before JMU returns to Boston for the ECAC Indoor Championships Mar. 1-3.Â

The outdoor season will begin with the team being split once again. Some athletes will compete at High Point University (Mar. 18-19) and others will head to Richmond for the Fred Hardy Invite (Mar. 19). The following weekend, the Dukes will head to the competitive Raleigh Relays (Mar. 25-26).Â

JMU opens the busy month of April at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va. Apr. 1-2. The Dukes will then split up for the third and final time this season the weekend of Apr. 8-9 with some student-athletes competing at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational in Miami, Fla. and other student-athletes staying in-state to compete at the George Mason Spring Invite.

The Dukes will host the JMU Invite on Apr. 16 at Sentara Park before closing out the regular season at the UVA Invite Apr. 22-23. JMU will return to Boston for the third time in 2022 to compete in the CAA Championships on May 6-7.Â

The NCAA East Preliminary Round is slated for May 25-28 in Bloomington, Ind.
