HIGH POINT, N.C. – James Madison track & field began its 2020-21 outdoor season on Friday at the Bill Webb Combined Events/Bob Davidson Memorial held at High Point with a trio of top-three placements.

Leading the way for the Dukes in her first collegiate outdoor competition was
Shelby Staib who won the javelin throw with a mark of 43.56m, which is 1.03m further than second place. Following behind Staib in outstanding first career appearances is
Miranda Stanhope who won the 5,000m race in 17:24.84.

Caitlin Swanson earned a fifth-place finish in the 5,000m race out of 19 competitors as she crossed the finish line in 17:41.63.
Rachel Lloyd notched the third top-three finish for the Dukes as she solidified third place in the pole vault with a leap of 3.50 meters.

Both
Erin Babashak and
Bethany Biggi are competing in the heptathlon and after four events in day one of action they sit sixth (2,509) and seventh (2,486) respectively.

JMU will wrap up action at the Bill Webb Combined Events/Bob Davidson Memorial on Saturday with the shot put kicking action off at 10 a.m. From noon until 4:30 p.m., track events will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Live results can be found at
